Foot Carry
Taken from Chapter 5 of
"Hooping"
An Instructional DVD by Peachysteve
The foot carry is a bit more versatile than the foot hook.
You can go into and out of it in a variety of ways.
I'm going to show the basic move and one variation here.
Starting again from Outside Circles. I bring the hoop over my raised foot.
I drop the hoop onto my foot and carry it around behind me.
I have to twist my foot as I go round. So the "hold" changes from my toes almost to my heel.
I reach hand two backwards, palm facing upward, and take the hoop as it comes around. This is like coming out of the Pass Behind The Back as my palm is upward I need to take the hoop overhead.
Rather than placing the hoop on the foot you can catch it on. One way to do this is to throw the hoop from behind you. Starting from overhead circles with arm one, swing the hoop round as if going into a back pass.
Keep going around until you are in the position seen in the Body Lift Then release the hoop. It will come forward and round so you can lift your foot up into it. |
You could also try to drop your head out of neck circles,
or slide the hoop from Shoulder Tip Circles to go into the catch.
If you are flexible you could go into overhead foot circles.
You can also slide the hoop off your foot and onto your arm to go into horizontal Arm Circles
