Handmade Hoops by Peachysteve
One Handed Step In
Taken from Chapter 4 of
"Hooping"
An Instructional DVD by Peachysteve
This move starts from overhead hand circles with arm two, using a large curling motion we have time to step in and return to overhead hand circles.
There isn't a great deal of time in this movement so it helps to turn throughout.
Starting from overhead circles with arm two Swing the hoop out to the side with palm facing forward.
Swing the hoop round, circling toward leg one. Start stepping into the hoop. Your palm is now facing upward.
You now have one leg inside the hoop. You've moved through a quarter turn already. Bring your other leg into the hoop. This is the bottom of the curling motion, here the grip changes from palm up to palm down.
Now you have to keep the momentum of the hoop going Drawing out a circle with your arm as you lift and turn. I usually make a full turn during this move.
If you can keep the momentum until your arm is head height you can go back into overhead hand circles. |
You must make sure to keep your wrist loose during this move as it's easy to falter.
The curling lift out is different to the lifts I've shown before so may take a little while to get used to.
Here you can get an idea of how this move looks.
