Handmade Hoops by Peachysteve
Two Arm Lift Out
Taken from Chapter 4 of
"Hooping"
An Instructional DVD by Peachysteve
Because the arm one and arm two lift outs follow the same path it's possible to lift out with both arms at once.
This movement is particularly good as a teaching aid.
If you are having difficulty following the path of the lift out, you can practice the two arm lift out from a static start.
Because both hands are gripping the hoop it's very difficult to move the hoop from its path.
In order to keep moving the hoop must follow a true path.
The important thing to remember is that you must have arm two forward of arm one.
Try it the other way and you'll tie your arms in knots.
When the hoop comes over the hip, take it with both hands. Hand two is forward of hand one.
Start curling with both arms. Your arms will quickly cross over.
Keep your eyes on your hands. Once the hoop has done a half turn your arms will start to uncross.
Draw out the circle overhead.
As the hoop descends your arms will cross over again.
Your arms will uncross again just before the throw off. As you are throwing with two hands the throw should be quite stable. |
